Portfolio

Here is my portfolio I created using InDesign. Thanks for a great semester Professor Santi!

Animation

I attempted to start this assignment a few times. I was not sure what I wanted to use for the reference video to work from. I had a few clips before of my juggling which I tried using, but it did not look so good. I thought to myself, how about I wait until I make it home and then I can film a high quality video of myself juggling in my studio. Since I have a white backdrop and soft and even lighting, I knew it would work well. I took a few takes to get it how I wanted. Once in Photoshop, I applied the stamp filter to each of the 160 frames. This made it black and white and higher contrast. I then when in and changed the color of the juggling balls. I had fun with this step. I was quite a bit of work, but it is how I had imagined it.

Autoscopy

Image
I completed my autoscopy assignment today. I was looking at photos of me I have not used in this class and I found this photo with the RED camera. I thought, what if I convert my body into a robot like computer to match the camera aesthetic. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I found the graphics online. I would have liked to find some more metal like parts, but I worked with what I could find. I also tried out some of the filters to make it a radically different image.

Somewhere Project

I decided to challenge myself and do the Somewhere Project. I was looking around at what costumes I have available to me in my dorm. If I was at home, I would have a much broader array of props and costumes to use. I have one nice collared black shirt and I thought, "what movies are known for dressing up nice?" The Great Gatsby came to mind. I looked through the movie and found a scene where I would fit in. I spent quite a bit of time with lighting. I used a small portable led light and placed it on my dresser. I then propped my phone up and did a self timer. I took about 50 photos to find the perfect one. I brought the photo into photoshop and had to play around quite a bit to make the colors and grain match. I still didn't get the lighting quite right, but it's all right.

Multiplicity

Image
My multiplicity assignment came out really well! I was thinking about what I should do for this assignment and wanted to use my strengths as a gymnast. While helping Noemi take her photos in the black box, I thought making it film related could be cool, but I did not want to copy her. I have walked down Bayshore Blvd a few times and stopped at the jungle gym. I thought, what if I played with myself doing several things on the there? I asked my roommate Jordan who is into photography to help me. We Onewheeled down to the jungle gym and set up my camera on a tripod. The most challenging part was climbing on top and doing a handstand. I was a gymnast for 14 years and really enjoyed this challenge. Preparing to do handstand.

B&W to Color

Image
I completed my first black and white to color transformation and it actually went better than I was expecting. I started with a photo Beau took of me on my 21st birthday. I then made the photo black and white. I then used three color pallets from color.adobe.com and colorized the photo. I was going for more realistic colors. I should have been more experimental and gone crazy with them.
